National Theatre for Scotland and award-winning documentary theatre socialists Rimini Protokoll (Germany) present DO’S & DON’TS in this unusual and exciting tour around Paisley.
Everyone enjoys people watching. Imagine the city is like a giant laboratory in which you can observe everyday human behaviour. But within the lab there are rules: do’s and don’ts.
You are taken on a journey in a remodelled truck, a mobile auditorium, looking out at the city through a large window. Next to the driver sits a child, who invites the audience to examine the city and the people in it: laws, rules, norms, rituals, explicit and implicit arrangements, visible and invisible codes.
A soundscape created by a local choir supports and comments on the journey.
DO’S & DON’TS is part of National Theatre of Scotland’s Futureproof festival marking Scotland’s Year of Young People in 2018. A major radical new festival of international performing arts, created by young people working alongside renowned Scottish, British and international theatre practitioners.
Ten companies and artists specialising in daring new work will embed themselves in ten communities around the country, working with local groups of young people to co-create, design, develop and stage a piece of performance. Ten productions will take place in cities and locations across Scotland as part of the Futureproof festival in October 2018. To find out more, go to the National Theatre of Scotland website.
