Visitors to The Spree can take a trip through the musical genres with two new shows added to the Spree bill at Paisley Arts Centre this October.
First up, a double bill on Tuesday 15 October will see Loki’s History of Scottish Hip-Hop as award-winning author Darren ‘Loki’ McGarvey tracks the evolution of the Scottish scene, before Stretch & Bobbito: Radio That Changed Lives tells the story of how some of rap’s biggest names got their break on an obscure radio show. You can see more and buy tickets here
Then on Friday 18 October, the film Rudeboy: The Story of Trojan Records tells how Jamaican and British music combined to create a cultural revolution in the 60s and 70s. Tickets include an invite to an after-party featuring the sounds of Trojan Records. More info and tickets here.
While the bulk of the Spree action is taking place in The Spiegeltent in County Square, there plenty reason to head over to the Arts Centre with an eclectic bill at the iconic New Street venue including Lost Map’s Lost Weekend Sunday Social, a special Paisley in Song night fronted by local lad Michael Cassidy, and a solo show from Arab Strap mainman Malcolm Middleton.
